I was a victim of busing in Floria. Not only did this keep me away from my family over two hours away, but growing up in the suburbs I was not equipped with the skills to avoid the intolerance against white people in a largely black and Cuban school, where white kids sometimes ended up in the hospital for mouthing off. I am all for diversity, but first-hand I can tell you first hand of its horrors. When you don't grow up in an environment where you have to be afraid of getting beat up for looking at someone the wrong way, and then being thrown into that situation was scary and I still have nightmares about it. What about doing something like bringing the school districts together for dances or events to encourage integration of children? I think everyone benefits from being able to understand those of different races, cultures, and economic backgrounds. Perhaps there is a compromise that would keep children closer to home.

I am a senior citizen and them cutting medcare by120 billion , will hurt us seniors citizen. Now for the ones who are voteing for this bill do not CARE about us, But they forget that WE the Seniors do vote for them,, I personally will vote against any Politician that are up for relection, EVEN if it means crossing over to another party.

I will agree with Dave and add that we have to put elected officials in office that will follow the Constitution and the founding principles of our republic. Are we at the point where the majority of the voters will elect politicians who will redistribute the fruits of our labor to buy a vote?

Great article. The interpretation of government's intrusion in our lives will likely be debated forever.

President Obama believes there should be a lot more.........Tea Partiers believe there should be a lot less. A lot less!!

If we want our interpretation to prevail, we have to put elected officials in office that agree with us. Why post such an obvious observation? Simply to remind everyone that railing against the established politicians (of either party) has done little to change the increased intrusion of government which has made us all so uncomfortable.

David Price has developed an obtuse, thick plate of armor that he believes is undefeatable. I disagree. I believe he and others just like him can be defeated at the ballot box and we should direct all the time and energy we have towards that goal.

If we keep our focus on the 2010 elections and the ones after that (this is a big job), The David Price's of our country will soon be as laughable as Nehru jackets.

I saw a video of David Price surrounded by Patriots grilling him on his violations of the oath of office. I guess you were among those Patriots. Way to go! That was one of the best videos I have seen on the Internet of how to politely, but firmly, remind our elected officials of their oath of office and the Constitution to which they are to adhere.

The U.S. Constitution is not such a difficult document to understand, unless you are purposefully trying. To be honest, I think many of these Congress Critters have become very comfortable with lying to themselves and to their constituents.

I pointed out the fallacy of using the general welfare clause for health care to David Price since it is discredited by the Federalist Paper 41. He still uses this as the basis of his violation of the Constitution and his oath of office for his support of health care legislation. I guess so many years of being in bed with Acorn and now SEIU have skewed his definition of welfare to be redistribution of the fruits of our labor so that he can buy votes to stay in office.

Cost shift from Medicare and Medicaid cost us significantly more than people who don't pay their bills - I saw an article today that this adds 30% to costs in FL. This bill does not address that - in fact, it cuts $500 B from the Medicare budget, threatening to make the problem even worse assuming that our senior citizens will be able to get the care they need. Out of those that don't pay their bills, many are here illegally. This bill does not address that either as illegals don't pay taxes and won't be paying the excise tax. Therefore they will still get treated for free in the ER and will have no need for insurance.

Furthermore, you do not have to have auto insurance. You can choose to not have a car, and many states allow drivers to post bonds in lieu of insurance. If we take his auto insurance analogy a bit further, we are not required to carry low to no deductible plans. The insurance company also doesn't pay for routine maintenance. People who tend to crash a lot get their policies cancelled and are put into high risk pools. People who are more prone to accidents - ie, new drivers - pay significantly higher premiums, as do people who rack up a lot of points on their license. Imagine if we had to buy our gas through an insurance company - people who don't drive very far would be subsidizing people who do. Prius owners would be subsidizing SUV drivers. And lastly - auto insurance companies are not required to cover cars that have already been wrecked.
