New World Order Starts at West Point

President Obama gave the graduation address at West Point on Saturday, May 22nd. The following clip is short but the point is clear: the United States WILL become part of an international order. The events of the past week starting with Mexican President Calderon and culminating with this affront to our country’s future path clearly delineate the line in the sand. No individual country can stand alone against the rest of the world but the United States is not in this position. We have no reason to turn over our country that our forefathers gave us to an international new world order. Of course the “We” in the previous statement is of no concern to our government in Washington, DC.

Peeps for the Troops

Last year I was pondering what to do with left over Peeps from a party I had at my house.  After giving it some thought, I came up with Peeps for the Troops.  The basic idea is to give a group of soldiers a break from whatever they are going through on the battle field and let them have a little reminder of home and happier times.

Why marshmallow Peeps?  Well, Peeps are a seasonal item.  They mostly are available around Easter time.  Memories that most people have of Easter are going on Easter Egg hunts and flying kites.  I know my parents gave me a couple of kites for Easter, but I know I probably bit off the heads of more bunny Peeps than got kites caught in trees.  Peeps come in all sorts of colors and and a variety of shapes, but this time of year they come as chicks and bunnies.  And you can do all sorts of things with the Peeps, from the annual Washington Post Peeps Show to Peep Research and Peep Jousting.  When it comes to Peeps, you are guaranteed to have a smile on your face, unless you are trapping the Peeps in your fridge.

The package that was sent last year contained 62 boxes, with 28 being chick Peeps and the other 34 being rabbit Peeps. The herd of rabbits was 412. The flock of chickens numbered 355 for a total of 767 Peeps.  The Peeps that traveled to Iraq last year ended up doing all sorts of things.

If you want to help out, you can either send donations to NC Freedom for me to buy Peeps or contact me (dean@ncfreedom.us) to get my mailing address to send the Peeps to me.  I will box up all the Peeps and send them out to a lucky group of soldiers some time after April 15th (when the Peeps start to disappear from the shelves).

I’ll post an update when I send out the boxes.

Is that too much to ask for?

If you can’t bring yourself to give the living the sense of accomplishment for winning a war that many claimed was endless, at least humor the dead. Allow them to rest knowing that the war that took their lives was won because of their sacrifice.

Is that too much to ask for?

Our Mission is Finally Accomplished… Anyone Care?

The firefight ebbs. The mortar fire ceases. A few last stray rounds streak past. A cry from behind causes me to turn. Lying in the road is a young Iraqi woman. I run over to help. She’s caught a round just below her temple. Her stunning beauty has been ruined forever.

She cries, “Paper! Paper” over and over until the ambulance arrives to take her away. An old lady emerges from the schoolhouse-turned voting site, sheets of blue paper in hand. She gives one to the wounded girl, who clutches it to her like a prized possession even as the ambulance carries her away.

The ballot was her voice. All she wanted was a chance to exercise it, just once, before she died.

That young woman wanted nothing else than the chance to explore her newfound freedom. She didn’t beg for help, or plead for her life. Voting would become her final act. In that moment, she matched our own sacrifices.
Our friends died to secure this day. And here on this road in Diyala, I saw proof that the blood spilled in this backward country had value. It made the cause noble and just. This may not mean much to someone who stands in opposition to our fight, but it is the legacy of our fallen. The honor of their sacrifice.

Randy’s Right

soldierAs I watched our Commander in Chief this evening addressing the nation on the troop surge in Afghanistan, I can’t help from having a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I have two sons and two nephews in active service, my nephew is on his third mid east tour, presently in Afghanistan. I look at Obama as nothing more than a community organizer and a young Chicago attorney with not one lick of experience. I fear for my sons and nephews that this man doesn’t have a clue and now their lives our directly in his hands. How in the world did such a thing happen to this nation. I do not trust Obama, nor his patriotism towards this Republic. I see him as a Marxist with a socialist agenda and political correctness.

Afghanistan is going to be another whole war and not just any war. It’s going to be nothing like Iraq, it’s going to get bloody. The Russians couldn’t do it over a ten year period, even Alexander the great couldn’t bring down Afghanistan. My only comfort is in General McChrystal and his team who are the most clear-eyed and determined command group the United States has had in Afghanistan in years. I pray Obama will put my sons and this war before his Presidential legacy or politics. Obama needs to do this right and give the Generals and troops everything they need.

Obama appeared to be using the same lines that Bush used in his speech for the surge in Iraq, that bothered me. Obama is just a spokesman for the liberal extremist progressives, which is evident by whom he has surrounded himself with some of the most radical and controversial Czars in US history.

The 4 SEALS who are up on charges for roughing up a terrorist will be walking into court this Monday. I plan on attending this protest in Norfolk, Va to let Obama know that political correctness is not going to win this war, it’s going to get more of our troops killed. If Obama had a pair, he would give these 4 SEALS a Presidential pardon and put them back on the battle field.

Just a few thoughts that I wanted to get off my chest, no fancy article, just common sense concerns I got with this man being Commander in Chief, taking 6 months to make a decision after he campaigned on the war during his Presidential campaign. You don’t have that kind of time and loose lipped campaigning of a war that you claimed to support, then make the Generals wait 6 months for a decision.

Bottom line Afghanistan is going to be one of the bloodiest and hard fought battles than any that ever took place in Iraq. The Taliban will hold nothing back and will fight to the death, taking as many US troops with them as they can.

There are causes for concern in the president’s remarks: the unconditional start of a transition to Afghan responsibility in July 2011; the refusal to set an appropriately high target for the size of Afghan security forces; and the provision of fewer U.S. troops than McChrystal originally requested. Nevertheless, the task of securing Afghanistan is critical, and with the extra forces there is a reasonable prospect.

War is hell, it’s even worse when you have a President that thinks he is going to have a quick surge and exit strategy. That part scares the hell out of me, it tells me he doesn’t have a clue.
