Cary KTM – Nov. 3

We had 7 people in attendance for the Cary KTM (Kitchen Table Meeting). The group discussed working on a current focus or goal for the Cary KTM and Triangle NC Freedom. We brain stormed around two issues that had been presented to the group.

The first issue is a focus to get the Constitution taught in schools in the Wake County area. While the Constitution may be briefly mentioned in today’s studies, the focus of the group is provide a more comprehensive teaching of the Constitution.

The second issue is to work towards the end “diversity busing” in Wake County. Diversity busing started out as a method of integrating school more on racial boundaries until it was struck down by a court decision. The focus then turned to be a integration based on income. Either way, the focus causes children to be bused to schools outside of their neighborhood due to the policy or over crowding, without any significant improvement in education. The November election secured a 5th spot on the 9 member School Board that will be aimed at eliminating this method of busing.  As a group, the Cary KTM would like to help with any efforts to get this done and work against any opposition to this goal.

From these two issues, the group decided on a statement that would be the focus for the group and to work on expanding on this statement with action items.

The Cary KTM (Kitchen Table Meeting), a part of the Triangle NC Freedom group, is committed towards ensuring comprehensive education of the U.S. Constitution and it’s supporting documents in Wake County schools, pursuant to section 305 “National tree” of Public Law 108-447 (page 536).  As a group we are also committed to provide research and support resources towards the shared goal of ending “forced busing” in Wake County schools.  We also aim to support any other grass-roots efforts with a similar focus.  The Cary KTM believes that Constitution is as important to the rule of law today as when it was first signed.  We also believe that every effort should be made to uphold the rights stated within this very important document.

Cary KTM – Sept. 29

The group reviewed the action item from the last meeting.  The letters were sent out to all of the School Board Candidates, but none were returned with answered questions. One of the members volunteered to hand out NC Freedom fliers at his polling place on Tuesday.

We discussed the upcoming 2010 elections and agreed that we would work towards vetting and supporting candidates running for Congress.

The Rolling Tea Party event for Oct. 10th was discussed.  The focus was on the starting point of the event and if it would be possible to gather before the event to decorate vehicles for the event.  We decided that it might cause an issue if the gathering was deemed as an “organized rally” to the property owners.  We decided to discuss this more at the next meeting.

We discussed Operation: Can You Hear Us Now and how that would work.  More discussion on that will be had at the next meeting.
